North Carolina AFL-CIO Endorses Cal Cunningham For His Commitment To North Carolina Workers

The AFL-CIO Endorsement Marks Continued Momentum For Cal’s Campaign, Including Endorsements from 140 Local Leaders, Numerous Advocacy Organizations

RALEIGH, NC – The North Carolina State AFL-CIO endorsed Cal Cunningham for U.S. Senate, citing Cal’s dedication to fighting for working people, marking continued momentum for Cal’s campaign.

The AFL-CIO is the largest association of unions in the state, representing over 100,000 North Carolina workers in communities across the state.

“Working people across North Carolina are standing up and fighting to make our voices heard. We are proud to support candidates who are willing to stand alongside us and fight to make our state a better place for working people,” said MaryBe McMillan, President of the North Carolina AFL-CIO.

“I’m grateful for the support of the AFL-CIO in my campaign to build an economy that grows for the middle class and working families who aspire to the American dream,” said Cal Cunningham. “In the Senate, I’ll fight for North Carolinians to have the opportunity to know the dignity of a well-paying job with good benefits, where a 40-hour workweek means a family can make ends meet and have enough left over for a weekend away.”

The AFL-CIO endorsement is the latest in a line of endorsements from North Carolina labor organizations including the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Cal has also received the endorsements of over 140 North Carolina community and political leaders as well as key organizations like VoteVets, the League of Conservation Voters, and End Citizens United.
