NEW Ad Holds Tillis Accountable for Failure to Protect North Carolina Military Projects

Charlotte Observer: $80 million in N.C. cuts were more than in any other state with a GOP senator facing reelection in 2020

Raleigh, North Carolina – As Senator Thom Tillis heads back to Washington after he failed to protect $80 million for military construction projects at installations across North Carolina, Cal Cunningham, Democratic candidate and Army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, today launched a new digital ad holding Tillis accountable.

“Senator Tillis promised the people of North Carolina that he would stand on principle for what’s right, but when he had the chance to protect military funding in North Carolina, he broke his promise and caved to partisan pressure,” said Cunningham. “As an Army veteran, I won’t sit by and watch as Senator Tillis allows North Carolina military funds to be raided just so he can score political points. It’s time the people of our state knew the truth about Senator Tillis, and the truth is, he’s too weak to stand up for North Carolina.”

The digital ad will run on Facebook and YouTube and will be geotargeted in communities impacted by the military project deferments, as well as in Fayetteville, where President Trump will be holding a rally on Monday night. In a series of searing clips from both local and national news, the ad illustrates just how severe the fallout has been in response to Tillis’ failure to protect military funding in North Carolina.
