RALEIGH, NC — Brady Campaign, one of the leading national organizations focused on reducing gun violence, endorsed Cal Cunningham for U.S. Senate for his commitment to commonsense gun safety reforms.
Brady’s endorsement follows the backing of more than 140 North Carolina leaders for Cal’s campaign, and endorsements from several high-profile organizations including VoteVets, the League of Conservation Voters and End Citizens United.
“Cal Cunningham has a long history of dedicated public service. As an Army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, business leader, and former legislator who served as Vice Chairman of the Governor’s Crime Commission, he understands the need to ensure that common-sense gun safety laws respect the rights of responsible gun owners and keep weapons out of the hands of those who cannot or should not have them,” said Brady President Kris Brown. “We need Cal’s leadership and clarity on these issues in Washington. It’s why Brady is proud to endorse him.”
“As an Army veteran who has been trained on firearms and a parent who drops his kids off at school praying they’ll come home safe, addressing gun violence and keeping our communities safe is deeply personal to me,” said Cal Cunningham. “I’m proud to have the support of Brady because they understand, like I do, that when we unite Americans of every age, community, and background, we can take commonsense steps to reduce gun violence.”
Cal is an Army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan and a former member of Governor Roy Cooper’s Crime Commission. He is an advocate for efforts to expand background checks, ban the sale of high-capacity magazines, pass red flag laws, and fund gun violence research to make our schools, churches, and communities safer.
